Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) and SMRT Sign MOU to Advance Workforce Development and Transformation

    Collaboration supports career and skills development for SMRT employees, while extending SWDA’s outreach to more Singaporeans through Stellar Ace’s islandwide media network.


    The Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) and SMRT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to embark on a three-year partnership to strengthen career development and support workforce transformation within SMRT, while encouraging more Singaporeans to take an active role in their career and skills development. 

    As technology continues to transform the public transport sector, SMRT is investing in workforce development to help its workforce adapt to evolving job requirements and emerging skills needs. Through SWDA’s Career Conversion Programmes, SMRT will receive support to reskill mid-career switchers for roles in the public transport sector, equipping them with relevant skills to start new careers in SMRT.  

    SWDA and SMRT will also explore opportunities for workforce transformation and job redesign through the Enterprise Workforce Transformation Package. This could include redesigning jobs to keep pace with business and technological changes, identifying emerging skills needs, and strengthening SMRT's internal capabilities to drive and sustain these efforts. 

    Under this partnership, SWDA will also work with Stellar Ace, SMRT’s media arm, to amplify messages on career planning, upskilling and reskilling, and raise awareness of the skills and employment support available to Singaporeans. Stellar Ace’s islandwide media network at major transport nodes will help SWDA reach people as they go about their daily journeys.
